Hello and welcome to My Southern Charm Style! I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend. Our weekend took an unexpected turn. Our daughter was supposed to play in a volleyball tournament this weekend, but she woke up very ill Saturday morning. We think it was food poisoning and we ended up taking her to urgent care Saturday afternoon. She was dehydrated from all the vomiting, so they gave her 2 liters of IV fluids. She did not get to play Sunday because she was still weak, but thankfully she is slowly recovering.
This time of year, many of you are probably planning on a beach getaway. Spring break is the perfect time to enjoy the warmth and sun we have all been anticipating for the past few months. Today I am sharing a packing guide to help those of you who might be traveling in the next week or so.
I am a notorious over packer. As much as I try, I always end up packing way more than I need and I usually don’t wear half of the things I bring. I have been working hard to improve my packing skills and be more efficient. It’s really important if you travel by plane. Airlines have weight limits on checked bags and some airlines charge extra to check a bag at all. I would love to get to the point that I can fit everything in a carry on, but baby steps!
Today I have put together a capsule wardrobe for a beach trip. I picked five tops, three bottoms, one dress, and two swimsuits. I am going to show you just a few of the possible combinations using these pieces. There are too many combinations to photograph each one, but you will get the idea.
Shoes and Accessories:
The key to packing light is to take pieces that can be mixed and matched and are also multifunctional. Here are examples of different outfits that can be put together using these key pieces.
In the pictures above, I also paired the coverup with shorts. It is too pretty to only use at the beach. Also the Chambray dress could be used as a beach coverup as well. I like to use that type of combination if we plan to walk to a restaurant or shopping right from the beach.
As I mentioned earlier, there are so many combinations when you pack key essentials. There are probably more outfits pictured above than you would even need for a week or less vacation. If you are like me, it’s always a little scary to pack light. I’m always afraid that I won’t have enough, but in reality I always have too much!
